On stormy days, the big ocean waves hitting the beach are fascinating to watch. There are several hiking trails nearby, and walking up the mountain will give you a magnificent view. 12 km to the fishing village Laukvik with grocery store and restaurant. 40 km to Svolvær, Lofoten's unofficial capital. Sand is a great starting location for day excursions by car in Lofoten. Boat and motor is available for rent in Laukvik. The kitchen has an electric kettle.
