The cosy ground floor of a large house in the middle of Gudhjem. The building historically housed a Sunday school for a Baptist church as well as a hairdresser, among other things in its long life in the town. It holds a lot of warmth and Danish hygge. The house is filled with art we love - read on below for more information! This is our home for most of the year and is the first time we can make a place our own, so we hope you love it as much as we do.
The space included in the rental is two separate bedrooms (Dame Salon and Herre Salon) with two single beds in each, a large open plan living room and dining room with the potential for additional sleeping space for two on the sofa bed, a large kitchen, and a shower room.
Also in the rental in a small grassed garden at the back of the house for outdoor dining and spending time outside.
The living room has a dining table for 6 - 8 people as well as a large sofa and reading chairs. The television is equipped with a Google Chromecast so guests can watch direct from their own devices. There is a Bluetooth radio for listening to music.
The kitchen is well stocked with essential equipment and includes all cookware and dishes. Please note there is no freezer. There is a dishwasher, an oven and a stove with plenty of storage space.
The shower room is small but functional with a toilet, sink and wet room shower.
Some additional notes to be aware of which we think makes the house extra special:
- we will be living on the first floor during your stay. It's an old house so you will likely hear our footsteps when we're home. The only shared space is the hallway towards the back of the house which is where our entrance and private bath is. Please refer to the figure showing the house layout (it's not drawn to scale).
- as well as the two of us living here there is also our cat, Mao. It is entirely possible to close off the rental completely from him if you like - if you leave the doors open you will most likely have a small furry visitor! He loves laps and some rubs (but not too many...) and you'll probably hear him running around upstairs from time to time. Please don't feed him, he gets plenty of treats from us.
- Because this is Mao's home for most of the year, while every attempt is made to remove all his fur it may not be suitable for people with severe allergies.
- there will be a little book left in the house with more information about your stay in the house - some of the art is for sale so if a piece catches your interest there's potential to buy a gorgeous souvenir from your holiday on the Solskinsøen.
