Stunning, recently renovated Provençal mansion near Fontvieille (1 km). This luxurious holiday home has a huge grassy garden and a beautiful enclosed swimming pool surrounded by loungers. A wonderful place to holiday. The house is perfectly maintained and very stylishly furnished, yet modern, with Provençal colours and details.
The village Fontvieille, 11 km from the town of Arles, is known for the Southern France writer Alphonse Daudet, whose bust stands in the town centre and whose name features on various shop fronts. But this region is also known for the paintings by Vincent van Gogh, who was fascinated by the magnificent countryside around Fontvieille.
This region has many other attractions besides the wonderful natural surroundings. On the way from Fontvieille to Arles, there is the beautiful and imposing abbey of Montmajour, dating from the 10th century. One of the most beautiful religious buildings of Provence and certainly worth a visit. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view from the donjon (tower) over the surrounding area to as far as Arles. The rich Roman past of Arles has left many historic attractions including an arena and Roman Theatre.
