Holiday home in castle that dates from 1530. The chateau was recently renovated and is very attractively furnished. The holiday home is at the back of the house which is the oldest part. The large terrace looks onto the parkland garden. The terrace is the perfect place to relax in the sun with a good book and a glass of wine. The estate is in the beautiful Ardeche region. It is just outside the village of La Pacaudiere. This is a splendid area for long, refreshing walks and cycle trips. You can enjoy a delightful holiday in the French countryside here and explore its splendid old villages. You can visit the unique Cotes Roannais wine route and enjoy its delicious cuisine. You can also enjoy golf in the area.

Perfectly located in a 20 acre park on the outskirts of La Pacaudière, offering fantastic opportunities to lose yourself, read or sample the wonderful local wine, Maison Les Bardons comprises 4 double bedrooms and features a swimming pool complete with sun loungers and parasols. It also features a private part of the park with comfortable outdoor furniture and BBQ. It is available all year round. Keen golfers will appreciate our property position nearby several excellent, well-maintained courses. Equally those not so keen will have plenty to do with beautiful countryside (walking & cycling, canoeing on the Loire river), quaint local villages and vineyards on the chateau’s doorstep. Lyon is also well within striking distance. What is widely regarded as one of the top 3 French restaurants is also in easy reach. Holding 3 Michelin stars for nearly half a century, Troisgros situated in nearby Roanne (only 20 km’s away). Our property is the rear building and the oldest part of Chateau Les Bardons. From 1494 – 1547 Chateau Les Bardons was owned by King Francis I. Although the main house was built around 1860, the rear and side entrances date from this period, built around 1530. Combining authentic French style with modern comfort, our property features original decor – ceilings a la Francaise, lavender blue painted shutters and beautiful old door frames. Not to mention the antique fireplace and old, sweeping, sandstone staircases leading to the cellar and first floor rooms. On the ground floor it features a dining room with an old French table (from a nunnery) and enough comfortable seating for 8 people. The kitchen is well equipped and even includes dishwasher and Nespresso machine, oven and extensive first class, professional SIGG cookware. In the culinary heart of France, situated in the regions of Bourgogne, Auvergne and Lyonnais, our property is perfect for those looking to take advantage of the wonderful local produce but we are also happy to help organise catering if you prefer. Bright sunlight pouring through high windows is a feature of the stylish sitting room, alongside parquet floor, original fireplace and some antiques helping to create a romantic, classic mansion experience. The house is fully equipped with all modern amenities, including stereo CD player, TV and wireless internet access. The first floor has 4 twin bedrooms and a new bathroom. This bathroom is furnished with luxurious designer loos from the Philipe Starck X-line, Dornbracht taps and include a relaxing rain shower. There is also another, separate toilet next door. The rooms are all tasteful decorated and have their own character and appeal to different tastes. All bedrooms have twin beds that can be pushed together to form doubles. Outside is the heated swimming pool, benefiting from sun loungers, parasols and a large, roofed terrace along one side perfect for enjoying lunch on a hot day, and for BBQs in the summer evenings. The heated pool means swimming is possible from early spring to late autumn. Perfectly located in 20 acres of woodland, the Domaine offers fantastic opportunities to lose yourself, read or sample the wonderful local wine. Nearby to Auvergne and Saone et Loire (southern Burgundy), the village of La Pacaudière lies in the Loire region of the northern Rhone-Alpes. The chateau is perfectly situated just outside this village of La Pacaudière, in beautiful, classic French countryside with many other smaller, medieval villages to be found along the winding country lanes. La Pacaudière has a beautiful little church, and also includes a bank (with ATM). There is a well equipped supermarket, two boulangeries, a kiosk, post office, two cafes, a butcher and a pharmacy. Our property is a country dwelling in an area renowned for clean air, while city life is within a stone’s throw - Lyon, Roanne, Vichy, St. Etienne, Clermont Ferrand – ideal for walking, cycling and golf too, and perfect for those with a culinary passion. Excellent facilities for snowboarding and Nordic/Alpine skiing make the mansion equally appealing in the winter time. The nearest major town is Roanne with good shops, train station, hospital, theatres and museums. Although most famous from a culinary perspective for the celebrated restaurant Troisgras (holding 3 Michelin stars for 40+ years), there are also a variety of other attractive restaurants in the vicinity. Considered one of France’s best kept secrets (despite being the second largest city!) Lyon is only 1.5 hours away by car. Offering much of historical interest, from art and culture, architecture, culinary, antiques and shops, this splendid city also has a TGV railway station and international airport. Wine lovers will not be disappointed by what our propertyhas to offer. The little known but fantastic vineyards of Rhone-Côte Roannais are just a few miles away. The red and rose wines have their own Appallation Controlée, made from the Gamay grapes, called Saint Romain. The better known Beaujolais is only 1 hours drive away. Producing all kinds of wines (from beautiful Cru’s to the Beaujolais Primeur) these are traditionally presented in the third week of November. If that’s not enough, the burgundy wine region – famous and loved the world over - is situated nearby. Pleasant memories will be made by a “route de vins” through the Bourgogne vineyards. A visit to Beaune is also extremely worthwhile. Just 10 miles from the chateau is the marvellous 18-hole course of Céron, and 20 miles away is the 9 holes of Villerest. La Loge des Gardes – only 20 miles from Les Bardons – is the ideal location for alpine skiing and snowboarding. Situated on the top of the Montagne Bourbonnaise, it has a blue, a green and 2 red pistes. A little further a field is Chalmazel (1 hour and 15 minutes) and the professional loipes of Lavoine are only 35 miles away. You will also find a tennis court, midget golf and the municipal swimming pool 5 minutes walk from the mansion on the campsite of La Pacaudière. Catering is available by local catering companies (traiteurs) - typically this will cost from 30 euros per person for a 4-course meal. Alternatively it is possible to hire a cook from the local village/town who can do any cooking that you wish during your stay – they are also usually happy to buy the food and clear up afterwards. Costs are typically 30 euros per hour.
