This cabin is placed at Bakketun, high and free over Sjoas gorges with overwhelming view into the mountains, good starting point for activities. The water in the cabin is from 120 meters deep. Heidal is the village along wild Sjoa, between the nathional parks Jotunheimen and Rondane, Peer Gynt and Kristin Lavransdatters area. The vestern fjords of Norway can be reached on daytrips. The village is one of Norways best preserverd with over 100 protected houses, a living traditional culture, handcrafts and local food of high quality. Heidal hotel has a local butcher store. With norwegian rafting sport center, Sjoa was internationally knowns as north of Europes best rafting river. It is free trout fishing in the river inside Sel municipality borders. In the many fishing lakes you will need a fishing licence. The animal wildlife is rich with moose and large birds. Glittersjå farm has tame moose, traditional sheeps, boar and more exotic animals. A short walk to Gardfjellet, with Heimdalsmuen, gives a view to three nathional parks at one time, with Dovrefjell as the third. In the winter the area is snow safe. floodlit trails at Skogen, app 10 kilometers from the cabin, and prepared trails at Lusæter, four kilometer west. A neighbour is offering trips with horse and carriage, this must be agreed with the houseowner in good time before arrival.
